Many Chelsea fans have been hoping billionaire owner Roman Abramovich would cough up the cash for Alvaro Morata but unfortunately for Blues fans it seems the Spaniard is off to Manchester. Following in the footsteps of many world class players, Morata is the latest high profile player making a move to the red side of Manchester.
The deal is not done yet, but according to numerous reports the striker will complete his move to the Premier League on Monday. In fact, with regard to the sources I've studied, most are saying he's definitely going to sign for United - but the most reliable sources in my eyes, Sky Sports and BBC Sport, have not reported anything to do with the prospect of the deal being completed on Monday. So although it seems likely, don't believe everything you read.
I'm not too sure how Morata would fit in at United. The Reds have just released Zlatan Ibrahimovic following what seemed to be a career ending ACL injury - perhaps we will have pleasure of seeing him play again, but it won't be in a United shirt. Anyway, Morata will naturally slot in up front, but it should be interesting to see how he'd link up with the likes of Rashford, Mkhitaryan and Pogba. Morata is notorious for being a goal poacher so you'd assume he'd fit in well - but something about his body language on the pitch reminds me of Torres at Chelsea (I honestly don't know why) which isn't a good sign.
As I said, if I were you I wouldn't pay attention to the gossip and rumours. But just in case you're interested, the Metro have reported Morata will sign a 5-year deal at United on Monday costing Man United £64.1m.
