Kyle Jagger is a Man United fan, lover of football and designer. He's the creator of football fashion brand False9, and recently we got the chance to ask him about him & the work that he's done.
Tell us a little bit about yourself, Kyle.
Well, my name is Kyle jagger. I'm 28 years old, from Oldham, Greater Manchester and I'm the creator and designer of False9. I'm currently a product development designer. Aside from False9, on a day to day basis I design retail clothing and shoe walls for a sports brands and stores.
What was your inspiration behind False9?
I've always wanted to create something I'm passionate about. Football and fashion have always been close to my heart, so why not combine them. My initial inspiration was to create simple t-shirts with footballs names on the back, but with a twist. I wanted to use the names used by Konami in old ISS and Pro Evolution Soccer video games. Konami didn't have the licenses to use the correct player names, so Zidane became Zedane, Roberto Carlos - Roberto Larcos etc.
These names became iconic in the world of football and video games. That idea didn't materialise after a few samples (although I am hoping to delve into that again at some point!). So, my inspiration turned to retro kits. I wanted to combine the old designs from classic kits and modernise them, turning them into statement pieces.
This is helped by the great shapes and colours from retro kits. So it's really creative to find parts of a design, tweak them and add other things, while combing them with my own ideas and adding that modern touch.
Which football team do you support? What are your thoughts on how this season is going for them?
I'm a lifelong Manchester United fan. After the highs of the Sir Alex era, it's been a grounding few years. After three very poor years with David Moyes and Louis van Gaal, I am feeling more positive this season. Yes, we don't look as though we'll get top 4, but with the possibility of ending the season with two trophies we're definitely heading in the right direction.
As well as that, our play this season has improved. It's a better feeling to know that we should have had a lot more points this season if we'd have taken more of our chances, instead of it being boring rigid football with four shots a game.
What are your plans for the future of False9 and/or any other projects you might be working on?
My plans for False9 are to build up the brand's name and to grow a great reputation within the fashion and sports world. My aim is to also evolve the brand into becoming a kit supplier for football clubs, expand the collection of products while keeping with the core values of why I created False9.
Thank you Kyle Jagger for agreeing to do this interview. Good luck with False9, we think it's going to be very successful! Check out the False9 website and buy a t-shirt by clicking here. Also, check out False9 on social media:
