On November 28, 2016, LaMia Flight 2933 left Viru Viru International Airport transporting the Chapecoense football team to a huge final in Columbia against Atletico Nacional. Soon, though, disaster struck - the plane crashed in Columbia, after running out of fuel, killing 71/75 people on board.
These were very hard times for the 3 players that remained and all the fans of Chapecoense football club and the event brought many fans from all clubs together at such a horrendous time.
Now, we are approaching 1 year since the crash and Chapecoense have made an incredible comeback. Only a few days ago, they celebrated retaining their position in Brazil's first division, a brand new squad (the majority of which, are on loan) has really proved well for the club.
Many football fans had never heard of Chapecoense until the incident and it's so upsetting that the crash is the first thing that comes to mind. Everyone hopes for a very good future for them and that nothing like this will ever happen again.
