Wenger has signed a two-year contract with Arsenal and I feel as though now would be a good time to outline my opinion on what will happen over the course of the remainder of his career in North London. Although the deal hasn't been officially announced yet, it's pretty much public-knowledge that the Frenchman's contract has been extended.
It's too soon to say that these two seasons will be Wenger's last (people expected him to leave Arsenal this season but he's still there, like that un-funny uncle who's the last to leave a wedding he wasn't even invited to). I have a hunch, though, that Wenger will probably leave at the end of the 2018/19 season. Despite the apparent ignorance of Arsenal's board, even Kroenke and co. will realise that a club legend needs to leave at some point - and hopefully, that will be in two seasons from now.
In the meantime Wenger has a couple of years left to leave his stamp on the club. Although I'm a Chelsea fan, even I can sympathise with Arsenal supporters - it's going to be 24 months of waiting. Alexis Sanchez will leave in the summer transfer window while I predict Özil will stay. The Gunners will probably fail to capitalise on the opportunity to win European silverware this season by focusing on trying to regain their spot as the Premier League's fourth best club - and then end up finishing 6th anyway. Then, in Wenger's final season at Arsenal, they'll have one final push for the greatest manager in their history and finish fourth!
I know I probably appear to be mocking Arsenal but in truth I'm trying to display my dissatisfaction with the board for offering Wenger a new contract. I just think it'd be better if the Frenchman parted ways with Arsenal at the end of a trophy winning season. It just seems like now would be the right time, but instead it's just going to be another two years of toxicity, protests, rants, fights and Troopz shouting on AFTV.
I'm annoyed and I don't even support Arsenal, so I do feel sorry for their fans - even you, Troopz.
