Here are three reasons why Chelsea will finish outside of the top three this season.
1) The team
Don't get me wrong, Chelsea have brilliant players and a great manager, but their squad depth is the problem. It isn't as good as teams like Manchester United, Manchester City and Arsenal who are all balanced with experience and youth, which leads me to the next point.
Unlike their title rivals, Chelsea don't really invest in the youth/younger players. And although it doesn't seem like it, youth players can make a massive difference to a team because they increase the squad depth which allows the first team players to get a rest once in a while.
3) Title rivals
The third and final point is about Chelsea's title rivals. Clubs like Man City, Man United, Liverpool and Arsenal have all looked hungrier than ever recently and all of their new signings have already shown that they can make a massive impact. Kyle Walker won man of match, Lukaku scored two goals, Salah and Lacazette also scored on their debuts and there is much more to come. And although Morata, Chelsea's latest signing, bagged a goal on his debut it wasn't enough for Chelsea to even get a draw against Burnley (never mind a win)!
If Conte continues to bench his new €70m striker (Morata), are they just going to rely on Batshuayi? In my opinion, it was a terrible idea for Antonio Conte to ditch star striker Diego Costa, he's a game changer who has the ability to not only score, but assist as well. I mean come on! The man has scored 50+ goals in the past 3 seasons...
So for those crucial few reasons, I think Chelsea won't finish in the top three this season.
